Tech Hub's Golden Palm Awards: Celebrating Lighthouse's Tech Doing Good Award

August 16, 2024

Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches is thrilled to announce that WE WON a Golden Palm Award at the South Florida Tech Hub’s Golden Palm Awards! Even more exciting, we were honored in a newly created category inspired by our work: the Tech Doing Good Award!

The South Florida Tech Hub highlighted our efforts on their site, stating:

"A brand new category and surprise award, this organization truly has harnessed the power of tech to create a positive impact on society, providing independence for the blind and visually impaired. They run various programs and services, two of which are the Assistive Technologies and Vocational Rehabilitation programs. We celebrate their commitment to creating a better world through technological advancement, and we are inspired by their dedication to making a difference."

The award ceremony was held at the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, where Lighthouse proudly served as a sponsor for the event. Representing our organization were Vice Chair Carmencita Mitchell, Team Member Diane Salina, and our Executive Director Lisa Stella, MBA, who accepted the award on our behalf. Adding to the excitement, Lisa surprised South Florida Tech Hub’s CEO, Nikki Cabus, with a Blind Barbie from Mattel, Inc., created in partnership with The American Foundation for the Blind.

We are incredibly grateful for this recognition and proud of our dedicated team whose passion and hard work make this all possible. The Tech Doing Good Award is a testament to the transformative power of technology in empowering individuals with visual impairments and fostering independence.

Thank you to South Florida Tech Hub and everyone who supports our mission. Together, we are making a difference and creating a future where technology opens doors to opportunity for all.
