What are the eligibility requirements?
The lighthouse serves persons of all ages with significant visual impairment that effects daily functioning. Call for program specific eligibility criteria. Persons do not have to be totally blind to receive services from the Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches.
How does someone register for services from the Lighthouse?
Individuals and/or family members contact the Lighthouse directly. Doctors or social services agencies may also make a referral.
What are the fees for the Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches?
There are no fees for eligible person to receive services from the Lighthouse. The Low Vision Department is operated by an independent contractor who accepts some insurances. Please call for more information.
What types of items are available through the Aids & Appliances Store?
The Aids & Appliances Store features a variety of household aids and devices which can make tasks of daily living much easier to handle for persons who are blind or visually impaired. Examples include, talking clocks, cooking aids, labeling aids, large print calendars, and much more.
Can I get magnifiers at the Aids and Appliances store?
No. Magnifiers are available through the Low Vision Department, which is operated by an independent contractor. Low Vision services are by appointment only.
Are you affiliated with other Lighthouse’s for the Blind?
No. the Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches is an autonomous, private nonprofit agency. The word “Lighthouse” is used by many organizations as it is synonymous with services for persons who are blind or visually impaired.
