Equipment Grant Program

The Lighthouse often receives donations of used equipment designed for persons who are blind or visually impaired. These items are re-gifted, based on availability and may include electronic video magnifiers (also known as CCTVs), optical character recognition (OCR) devices, computers, assistive technology software, and other specialized devices.

The Lighthouse is able to make these devices available to individuals for their own personal use. The equipment is given, free of charge, to the individual, based on financial need and other criteria. Assessments are provided to ensure that the equipment is a good fit for each individual. Training is provided for participants who receive equipment through this program to assist them in learning how to use the donated equipment.
